The 2014 FIRST Robotics Competition season, Aerial Assist, was the team’s first season competing.

The Game

In Aerial Assist, teams passed an alliance coloured ball between their alliance robots and human players, over a truss, and into goals at the ends of the field to score points.

The team’s robot, named Alph was built on a kit bot drivetrain, with an extending intake and 4 shooter wheels to power the ball over the truss and into the high goal.

Greater Toronto West Regional

The team competed at the Greater Toronto West Regional (GTR West) competition. Through 12 qualification matches, the team went 7-5, seeding 6th. The team captained alliance 4, and was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The team won the winning the Highest Rookie Seed Award, the Innovation in Control Award , as well as the Rising All-Star Award.

North Bay Regional

After the team’s success at GTR West , the team competed at the North Bay Regional competition. Through 11 qualification matches, the team went 7-4, seeding 6th again. The team captained alliance 4, and was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The team won the Highest Rookie Seed Award, the Creativity Award, and the Rookie All-Star Award, qualifying the team for the World Championship in St. Louis.

World Championship

After a long travel, the team competed at the world championship in the Archimedes Division. Through 10 qualification matches, the team went 6-4. The team won the Rising All-Star Award for the division.

Fall Fiesta

The team competed at the inaugural Fall Fiesta off season event. The team would put on a impressive effort, seeding 1st and winning the event. Along with the event win, the team would win the Best Rookie Team award.
